About Us
I am Eleanor, and I created the “Stop Junk Mail Now” movement because I have been passionate about saving our environment for as long as I can remember! This website is part of my Girl Scout Gold Award, the culminating project after 13 years of community service and helping make the world a better place!
Growing up, I have watched my family’s mailbox pile up with junk mail. Every month or so my parents spend hours opening and sorting it into piles on the floor. Some goes in the recycling bin, but some can’t. Looking at all those sad pieces of dead trees on the floor, I started researching how I could help reduce the junk mail coming to my house in the first place. I learned a lot and want to share what I learned with as many people as possible so we can Stop Junk Mail Now!
I am grateful for the help of many people, including my advisor, Olivia Tanager, Director of the Toiyabe Chapter of the Sierra Club, all the staff at the Girl Scouts of the Sierra Nevada, and my family for always supporting my endeavors.
